Membership
FLiCRA is made up of residents of Continuing Care Retirement Communities located throughout the State of Florida. To date, FLiCRA currently serves over 11,000 members in 53 communities.
By joining FLiCRA today, you are helping protect your personal interest and financial investment for years to come. Your FLiCRA membership helps provide:
- Representation in Tallahassee that promotes your interests as a resident before the Florida Legislature and state agencies.
- A Tallahassee-based association headquarters with staff prepared to assist residents with questions on their rights and provide information regarding long term care issues.
- A quarterly association newsletter, FLiCRA legislative alerts and President's Letters, which provide members with updates on resident news and frequent state meetings.
- Regional meetings where residents can tour other facilities and meet residents from communities around the state.
FLiCRA also continually monitors and reviews legislative or regulatory proposals that may have a positive or adverse effect on the life of residents. During each legislative session, thousands of bills are filed in the Legislature. Many of these bills contain issues that are relevant to CCRC residents. FLiCRA encourages its residents to contact their legislators at the local level on issues of concern. The Tallahassee staff also works with legislators and staff in Tallahassee on these same issues.
FLiCRA has been successful to date due to its broad-based support from residents. In order to continue effective advocacy for resident's rights and welfare, FLiCRA needs a chapter in every CCRC and every resident to belong. Membership in FLiCRA is reasonably priced at $17 for a single resident living in an apartment and $29 for two residents sharing an apartment. This fee covers twelve months of membership from the date that you join FLiCRA.
Persons who do not reside in CCRC's as licensed under Chapter 651, F. S., nor in other residential facilities from which support services are purchased, yet who wish to participate in or support the activities of FLiCRA may become Affiliate Members of the organization. Affiliate members may not vote on matters before the organization.
